Paper Chromatography....pigments are for real!

Paper Chromatography:
We ran the paper chromatography lab today, and some of our results are varied.  At least one of the chlorophyll pigments should have dropped out on the paper, and some of you had some xanthophyll pigment (yellow), and carotene (orange). Your chromatography paper should look something like this:
From here you will calculate the Rf values for each of your pigments. Starting at the 1.5cm line, the distance each pigment traveled before it dropped out.  For example, in the picture above, the top line indicates the solvent front (the total distance the solvent traveled). You will measure the distance to where you see the pigment.

Labs are due on Friday (10/11/2013).
