I've started a blog for everyone to be able to access the agenda for class, and to keep track of what we have done and what we plan to do. I will also use this for extraneous information that supplements the content that we have been working on in the classroom. Assignments will be in blue. Due assignments will be noted with yellow highlighter. I hope you enjoy and use the information that I will post on here.....happy science-ing! :)
Agenda for this week (10/7/2013-10/11/2013):
- 10/7/2013 - Diffusion and Osmosis Review - Remember, in osmosis, water always travels towards the HYPERTONIC solution!!!
- 10/8/2013 - Photosynthesis Mini-Lab/Introduction to Photosynthesis - Witnessing photosynthesis by placing "sunk" spinach discs in a bicarbonate solution and applying light. What happened? How did they figure it out? Why does it matter? What really happens during photosynthesis??Section Assessments Chapter 8: p.203(5Q), p.207(5Q), p.213(5Q). Chapter 8 Vocabulary (13terms) Due.
- 10/9/2013 - Photosynthesis - Getting Into the Details - How does light affects photosynthesis? What pigments are found in plants? What are they responsible for? How is the chloroplast designed to facilitate this process? Paper Chromatography Lab Handed out.
- 10/10/2013 - Paper Chromatography Lab - Bring a GREEN LEAF, a pencil, and your lab. Extract the different pigments that we've learned about out of a leaf and discuss their important role in photosynthesis.
- 10/11/2013 - Movie: The Unkown World - Exploring the world we can't see...bacteria, viruses, protists, etc. A nice supplement to all the information we learned about cells, their structures, and how they function differently in different organisms. Paper Chromatography Lab Due.
Thank an Autotroph!!!
